Imy discussed a concern with me today. She has been working with Preston to ask for a "drink" but no matter how much they practice, he only grunts and points. She will say "Preston say 'drink' but he doesn't get it. She'll say "Preston, you have to 'talk' " and then he will say "talk"....this is concerning to me since drink is a pretty basic need. We're going to start working with him here on it some more--maybe even the sign to help lower his frustration level. Plus it's really a good goal to actually get him to ask for SOMETHING...even if it's sign language it is communication.....

We had a good session last week with Carrie and a good one with LaQuita. LaQuita is working on the Kauffman cards (http://www.kidspeech.com/index.php?page=42) with him. He is doing well with them. Now, if we can get him to put them together and form words!
